A couple of weeks ago during one of those dazzling winter sunsets, the sky turned to a fiery spectacle. Bands of colorful clouds arced across the entire sky, turning slowly from yellows to reds to purples as the sunset progressed. While walking around the market, I found the blazing sign of Pike Place Market highlighting the fiery colors behind it. Composing this frame while minding vehicular traffic and people proved to be a challenge.

Astra Lumina (Star Light)
Astra Lumina was quite the experience. Pulsating lights and lasers synchronized to an acoustic soundtrack shaped and bent to different shapes to highlight different patterns, all within the confines of a beautifully manicured garden, made for an immersive experience. Photographing the show proved to be a challenge especially in the low light and constantly moving crowds.

Kodachrome color
The winter in Seattle has been upping its game with spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the last few days. While I missed out on some of the action, I was still able to catch a decent bit of color.
Here is one from a foggy morning where the fog almost managed to play spoilsport, clearing just in time for the colors in the sky to shine through.

The lollipop swirl
The ferris wheel in Seattle often features patterns relevant to current affairs. On Valentines day, it featured a red heart, and for the majority of 2022, it featured the Ukrainian flag. But on this day, it featured a pattern I had never seen before - a spiral pattern that reminded me of a lollipop with a swirl. And so, even though the sunset burn wasn't as colorful, the ferris wheel more than made up for it.

The Cherries at Spring
It may be mid May, but the temperatures in the PNW have still stayed below the 60s, and it still feels like spring. So in recognition of that, here are a couple of photos from the spring cherry blossoms at the well-manicured blooms of the University of Washington Campus

Carpet of flowers
Every spring, the streets and parks of Seattle are ablaze with a variety of floral blooms, from the bright cherry blossoms, the vibrant camelias, the regal magnolias, the colorful tulips and daffodils to the tiny flowering plants including daisies, phloxes and bluebells. I found this carpet of lawn daisies at a park in Seattle particularly captivating

Chasing the Wheel
Four years of living in this city, and this sunset was my first attempt at capturing this enigmatic wheel that dominates the wharves and docks of the downtown. I was seeking the the optimal slice of twilight to capture the vibrant lights against the blue-red gradient.
As I continued capturing multiple exposures, I wondered what the spectactors of this wheel of light were experiencing at that time. Perhaps as much joy as I was feeling.

Light in the Dark
This lighthouse was commissioned over a 130 years ago to help ships navigate the narrow channels of the Puget sound. Its remarkable that the the original structure still remains today, and still serves as an active aid for traversing the canals of Elliot Bay. And it serves as a great subject for sunset photography in urban Seattle

Alone at Sea
During a spring hike a few years ago, I was blessed with remarkable conditions over the Puget sound. I specifically sought this location in an urban park so that I could capture the beautiful silhouette of the Olympic range. A lone sailboat happened to be at the right place to frame this scene.
